The Spacek Labs Model SPU-20-20W is a high-power amplifier designed for operation from 40 to 60 GHz as part of a banded solution with excellent output power. Although this amplifier typically provides 20 dB of overall gain, it can easily be delivered with 30 or 40 dB typical gain if desired. It boasts a saturated output power greater than 20 dBm and is ideal for use in the transmission portion of communication systems. Bias for the amplifier is applied as a single positive voltage between +7 and +12VDC through a solder-pin bias connector and requires 680 mA of current. Although designed for 40 to 60 GHz in WR-19 waveguide, the SPU-20-20W can be delivered in 1.85mm coaxial connectors. In this coaxial configuration, it can readily be used up to 65 GHz with similar performance. Since this amplifier also works well down to 37.5 GHz and up to 65 GHz, it can be used as an intermediate driver amplifier to drive passive frequency doublers for full W-band in WR-10 or up to 130 GHz in WR-8 waveguide.
